Time is growing short for Halloween costumes. While technically we still have the weekend before the big day, in actuality kids probably have some Halloween party, parade or other dress-up affair planned for this weekend. At this point the stores have been decimated, so what is a procrastinating mom or the mom of a "mind-changer" (I always have one of those!) to do?
Mine the kids' costume box! This collection of old accessories from costumes of years gone by is a treasure trove. But don't do it on your own, make it a dress-up party. Pull out the old costumes and see what creative ideas kids can come up with.
One year, one of my "mind-changers" opted for a kitty-angel-princess costume--all picked from the costume box. It was a pretty cute costume, but what was even cuter was how she explained to a local radio DJ, hosting a costume contest, that kitties, angels and princesses were each special "people." She won a $50 gift certificate to Toys R Us!
