Administrative Work

My work is based entirely online, so when the Internet and/or power goes out, there's not much I can do. So I use that time to do administrative work I may be putting off such as updating client information, preparing invoices to send, or even checking my office supplies for things that need to be restocked.

Such a Nightmare

I've lost my Internet a few times just before a big deadline. The first time I negotiated a new deadline -- but that's not something you want to do often. The second time I had enough time to spend a full half day online with Verizon fixing the problem, but the third time I was forced to find other places to do my work. I tried an in-laws...but they didn't really understand the fact that I was working and couldn't hang out in the kitchen to gossip. I went to a cafe and paid for the connection. I managed to get my work done, but I have to admit it was far too distracting and uncomfortable. My plan is now to get some kind of back up wireless modem that I could use if it happens again.
