Readers Respond: What Type of After School Programs Work Best for Your Family?

While we all want our kids engaged in activities they enjoy, a child's interest is not usually the only deciding factor when choosing after school programs. Often these after school activities are a form of child care for the working parents, extending the working day for parents.

Some after school programs are conducted at school or provide transportation off-site, and that can be the deciding factor for parents. Other after school programs such as clubs and sports are often free or a nominal cost, and for other parents that's what makes all the difference. What are the factors you consider when choosing after school programs for your kids? Tell Us

Tranportation

If we can walk to an activity or organize a carpool, that weighs in on my decision. After school clubs usually don't last that long and haven't held much interest for my kids. We have a recreational center nearby, so I always check what kind of after school programs they offer.
