From the article: Do You Need After-School Care?
While we all want our kids engaged in activities they enjoy, a child's interest is not usually the only deciding factor when choosing after school programs. Often these after school activities are a form of child care for the working parents, extending the working day for parents.
Some after school programs are conducted at school or provide transportation off-site, and that can be the deciding factor for parents. Other after school programs such as clubs and sports are often free or a nominal cost, and for other parents that's what makes all the difference. Tranportation
- If we can walk to an activity or organize a carpool, that weighs in on my decision. After school clubs usually don't last that long and haven't held much interest for my kids. We have a recreational center nearby, so I always check what kind of after school programs they offer.
