How I Get Work Done in the Summer

Most days I get up by 6 am and can get usually three hours a day of work done before the kids really get going. (If they do get up before 9 am, I let them watch TV for a little bit).

After 9 am, we spend some time together. Maybe it's fun stuff or maybe it's errands. Sometimes the kids go to their friends' house, which gives me a little more quiet time.

Two afternoons a week my kids take a dance class. It's two hours, so I just bring my laptop and plug in and work at the coffee shop next door. And I usually work for an hour or so after the kids go to bed. But not too much because I want to spend time with my hubby.

Also they both go to a day camp for a week and the older one goes to her aunt's for a week. So those are productive weeks

The Hardest Part of the Summer Is...

Staying motivated. Sometimes I just want to kick back and play with the kids, but I have a lot to do. I get distracted by the kids but I get distracted by myself too. I just don't feel like working as much.

Tips and Tricks

  • Set a routine. Kids like routine. If everyday is something new they just find it hard to settle down.
