Plan for School Snow Days
Work-at-Home Mom Tip #9

By Laureen Miles Brunelli, About.com

Just because you work at home doesn't mean school snow days and delays are simple. The key to dealing with weather emergencies is long- and short-term planning, i.e. have a snow day strategy. If your line of work makes caring for children simultaneously difficult (for example, virtual call center agent), make tentative arrangements to have a friend watch your kids in the event of a snow day

In the short term, keep an eye on the forecast. If it seems like school could be closed later in the week, rearrange your schedule to get more done earlier—canceling medical appointments or other personal commitments and better prioritizing work tasks.
