Packing a Picnic Basket
Work-at-Home Mom Tip #21

By , About.com Guide

Picnics are easy and free summer fun. You have to eat, so why not take it outside? Work-at-home moms often have the opportunity to take a lunch break with the kids, so make it special.

But it can seem daunting to pack up all the stuff you need for a picnic, especially with little kids, all for just for one meal. But if you have a picnic bag or basket ready with all the non-food items, that will speed your way. You can buy a complete picnic set or assemble your own. Browse picnic items. If you do decide to make your own, keep these picnic things in a backpack, canvas bag or basket:

  • Hand sanitizer or wet wipes
  • Sunscreen and bug repellent
  • Plastic cups and cutlery
  • Disposable plates (not flimsy)
  • Paper towels
  • Trash bags
  • An old blanket
  • Vinyl tablecloth
  • Bottle opener/corkscrew
  • Frisbees, balls, outdoor toys
  • Diapering supplies, if necessary
Be sure to restock as you use up items, so you don't head out the door without all the things you need. More Ideas for Easy Picnics With Kids
