Children's Toys in the Home Office
Work-at-Home Mom Tip #2

By Laureen Miles Brunelli, About.com

Toys for Tots

While some moms' work-at-home rules don't allow kids in the home office, if yours do, make the kids welcome. Have a stash of your children's toys in your office, so they aren't looking to you for entertainment. (And if you usually have a closed office door, maybe keep a few children's toys for emergencies.)

Of course, you'll still need the kids to keep it down, so some quiet children's toys that encourage independent play include:

  • Building toys
  • Coloring books/art supplies
  • Books
  • Hand-held games with earphones
  • Music players with earphones
  • Puzzles
