Every so often a nurse employed by my insurance company calls me up to make sure I'm taking care of my health. I mostly avoid these calls because I'm deeply distrustful of insurance companies. Although I believe the nurse on the other end of the line has good, professional intentions, I don't trust his or her boss.
So when I do take the call, I always try to turn the conversation around, asking the nurse about whether he or she works at home. Mostly they don't--or they won't say--as they try to steer the conversation back to me and my health.
But nurses are only one kind of medical professional who can work from home. Physicians, medical writers, transcriptionists and billers and coders can all work from home. Some medical professionals can even take their knowledge to online teaching jobs.
