Cleaning the house in July, I have come across a cache of spoons under a kid's bed. It may seem strange but I know exactly how they got there. My kids believe the snow day superstition that a spoon under the bed will bring on a snow day. It's harmless fun, but it can make me short on spoons.
So far this year it hasn't worked too well for us, but others around the country are getting dumped with snow this year. Though I can definitely get tired of day after day of school cancellations and kids that have run out of things to do, I'm a little envious. There's just something special about a snow day for kids. And as a parent, I enjoy that--even if it is inconvenient.
