I know what you're thinking. First, books aren't toys. And second, what the heck is a wordless book?
And while I know that books aren't technically toys, they are on my list of Good Toys for Kids of WAHMs because they keep kids busy and mentally engaged, which is what I--as a work-at-home mom--want from a toy. I can get some work done while kids are busy with a book, and the kids are having fun. Win win.
Of course, the problem with books can be that they aren't fun for the kid who can't yet read or who struggles to read. And this is where the wordless (or practically wordless) book comes in. I have created a list wordless books that will entertain kids from preschool to pre-teens with stories told visually not verbally. Along these same lines are audiobooks and puzzle books, another great way to keep kids happy when traveling or while you are working.
