Each week until the end of the year, I'm focusing on a different type of "good toy" for kids of work-at-home moms. This week it's fashion design toys. I know that maybe not everyone--myself included--would automatically think fashion-related toys are good toys.
Honestly, they seem kind of shallow to me, and I wish my little girl would draw designs for a skyscraper rather than an evening gown. But my definition of a good toy is basically that it engages and inspires children and ignites their creativity. And kids gets don't get inspired about things they're not interested in (i.e., skyscraper blueprints). And my daughter has come up with some very creative evening gowns.
While, of course, not every kid gets inspired by fashion, for the ones that do, fashion design toys are--in my reluctant estimation--good toys.
